Trim & Clean Homegrown Garlic
Join us Thursday, August 11 from 1pm to 2pm to learn hands-on how to trim and clean homegrown garlic for long-term storage.
Participants will learn how to prepare and store garlic that has been locally harvested, dried and cured. Properly cured and stored garlic can last up to 8 months! This session is a precursor to an upcoming garlic-growing workshop in the fall to be announced.
The Innisfil Seed Library is excited to partner with the Town of Innisfil and the Rizzardo Health & Wellness Centre for a free weekly vegetable and herb gardening program throughout the summer.
This hands-on program will evolve each week as the plants grow and mature. You may register for one session or the whole series!
You can expect to learn:
- What plants that are best suited for container gardening
- How to maintain a healthy container garden
- Companion planting and incorporating flowers into your vegetable/herb garden to attract pollinators
- How to harvest veggies and herbs for continuous harvest throughout the season
- Succession planting
- How to save seeds later in the season
Not only is this an opportunity to learn about growing food but it's also a great way to help increase food security in our community as fresh produce will be donated to the Troy Scott Community Fridges.
